Unsupported Broker Connections

Add an Additional Broker

  • You can request getting TickZoom FIX certified with your broker or exchange for a nominal fee as long as doing so will be valuable for other users of TickZoom. Otherwise, a higher fixed priced fee will be required.

Do It Yourself Broker Connections

  • Since most of TickZoom is open source including the broker connectivity, some users choose to implement their own broker connection by following the FIX examples. Or they pay a 3rd party developer to add their broker.

Why did TickZoom Drop Support for Proprietary APIs?

Most proprietary APIs to brokers lack sufficient features and reliability for reconnection and recovery for fully automated, hands-free trading. Also, officially InteractiveBroker doesn't support automated trading on their API.

In contrast, brokers and exchanges support fully automated trading on the FIX connection. Plus, it has specialized features for heartbeat and reconnection recovery that make it very qualified for reliable automated trading.

Still, perhaps the biggest factor for TZ choosing FIX versus proprietary is stability. Brokers and Exchanges go years at a time before making any changes or upgrade to their FIX implementation. But their proprietary APIs can change significantly multiple times per year and create hassles for users with compatibility. Plus, for those reasons FIX servers and connections remain more stable with very high up times percentages.

Why does TickZoom Only Support FIX for MBTrading At This Time?
